Taiko rocks! I have a friend that used to learn somewhere in Tokyo. I've heard there are quite a few private schools in the area, and you could always check your shiyakusho- there's probably some kind of shimin doukoukai in your area, for a cheap, low commitment alternative.
As for me, I'll stick with challenging my 3 year old to Taiko no Tatsujin... until she can beat me!
