I was cleaning out the files on my hard drive when I came across this photo. It was taken during the Fall of 2003, inside one of the major geisha "tea houses" that still line streets of the Gion district in Modern Kyoto. So here we have your modern day geisha party:
If my memory serves me correctly, the above clients are in the film industry. The actor (at the head of the table) and his manager (the very drunk one) are engrossed in that type of male bonding that can only occur when ones drinks are being poured by a living piece of precious artwork (presently fixing her hairpiece).
I am not the slightest bit proud of the particular misadventure of mine that resulted in the taking of this photograph. Still, I wrote about that night in detail in my book. Which reminds me, I need to commence looking for a nice hole to crawl into and die of embarrassment when my memoir hits the shelves next year. . .
I still need to get out and get some pictures of Geisha.
